Jerome K. McBroom, 86, of Sebring, FL, died on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 12, at 1 p.m. at Butler Union Church in Butler.
Mr. McBroom was born on Jan. 30, 1938, in Butler, to the late William and Velma McBroom, and has been a resident of Sebring, FL since moving from Tucson, AZ in 2001. He married Hazel McBroom, and she survives.
He dedicated his life to service and was a shining example of kindness and generosity. His involvement in various organizations, including the Masons, Lions Club, Toastmaster International, Shriners Club, Care Ministry and as a hospital volunteer, showcased his commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. He held the role of transportation terminal manager, where his work ethic was unwavering and his dedication to his profession was evident. He proudly served in the Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis, demonstrating his commitment to his country and his fellow soldiers. His bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
In Mr. McBroom’s free time, he found joy in fishing and golfing. He was an active member of the Shriner fraternity, where he found immense fulfillment in giving back to those in need. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
His commitment to making the world a better place was evident in all aspects of his life, from his military service to his volunteer work in the community. He will be dearly missed, but his legacy of love, kindness and generosity will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
Mr. McBroom is surived by his wife, Hazel Marie McBroom; son, Todd (Robyn) McBroom of Bolingbrook; daughter, Tracy (Gene) Watson of Valrico, FL; grandchildren, Samantha Watson and William (Bailey) Watson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shirley Schmidt; and brothers, Lency ‘Ike’ McBroom and Thomas McBroom.
