William Anderson, 73

William “Bill” Anderson, 73, of Ellicott City, MD, died on Tuesday, Aug. 9. 2022, at his home, after a long battle with cancer.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, Aug. 14, at Harry H. Witzke’s Family Funeral Home in Ellicott City, MD. A private burial followed. Harry H. Witzke’s Family Funeral Home in Ellicott City, MD, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Anderson retired from the Social Security Administration (SSA) in 2004, with over 26 years of service. He spent most of his career working with SSA’s Disability Program and retired as the Director of the Office of Medical Policy. He loved working and was well respected by his colleagues.

Mr. Anderson enjoyed retirement; he never tired of doing the things he loved. He and his wife traveled all over the world. When he wasn’t traveling, he enjoyed bike riding, tennis, basking on the beach and spending time with his wife, family and friends. He was a wonderful husband and a great friend, who will be missed by those who knew him.

Mr. Anderson was the beloved and cherished husband of Bobbie Yates; father of Angela Anderson, Jennifer (Mike) Greenberg and Scott Anderson; grandfather of Hunter Anderson,  Ashley (Ryder) O’Brien, Laela Greenberg and Calleigh Greenberg; great-grandfather of Addi and Lyla O’Brien; brother of Rachel Howard, Jody Danenberger and the late Betsy Anderson; and uncle to his nieces and nephews.
