Nancy Jo Flowers, 78, of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at her home with her family by her side.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, July 29, at 12 p.m. at First Baptist Church  in Nokomis with Dr. Ryan Follis officiating.  Visitation will be held two hours prior to services from 10 a.m. to noon.  Burial will follow at Nokomis Cemetery.

Mrs. Flowers was born Dec. 4, 1945, in Hillsboro to Paul and June (Helfer) Obregar.  She attended Nokomis High School and graduated with the class of 1963. She and Lawrence (Sonny) Johnson were married on Oct. 19, 1963, and he preceded her in death on July 15, 1968.  She later married Terry Spencer Flowers on Jan. 10, 1971, and he passed away on April 3, 2011.

Mrs. Flowers could be found on Saturdays at her parents’ supper club, Paulie’s. After Sonny passed away, she returned to college and became an LPN, working various jobs until her retirement.  She and her husband, Terry, were owners of Snappy Lube in Litchfield for many years.

Mrs. Flowers was a member of Omicron Delta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, a monthly trivia group with friends and was vice chairman of the Young Republicans, running Jim Edgar’s campaign in Montgomery County when he was running for governor.  Mrs. Flowers’ joy was being surrounded by her family, often spending time at the lake swimming and boating, often heard saying, “Terry you’re too close to the shore”.

In addition to her parents and both husbands, Mrs. Flowers was preceded in death by her sister, Penny Patricia Obregar.

She is survived by her children, Tracy Johnson Flowers (Tim) Mizera of Raymond, Christoper Paul Johnson Flowers of Irving, Megan Danielle Flowers (John) Kindernay of Hillsboro, Terry Jason (Sandra) Flowers of Hillsboro and Mary Jane (Steve) Brookshire of Fillmore, 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and Izzy, her precious dog.
