Buck D. Cole, 71, of Nokomis died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024, at Nokomis Rehabilitation and Healthcare with his wife and son by his side.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. with Father Michael Meinhart presiding. Burial will follow at Nokomis Cemetery.
Mr. Cole was born June 12, 1953, in Hillsboro, to Glenn and Mary (Lewiski) Cole. He attended and graduated from Nokomis High School. Buck and Debbie Mikalauski were married Nov. 18, 1978, and she survives. He worked for the City of Nokomis in various duties for over 17 years.
He will be sadly missed by his wife and son, Joe. They shared that he will be remembered by all that knew him as hard working and had the biggest heart. Mr. Cole was gentle, loyal and generous. He loved his family and his community, and he would help anyone who needed it. His favorite thing to do was attending all of his son’s basketball and baseball games and he also loved to fish. He grew up on “Hunkie Hill,” where he spent many days playing ball, riding bikes and never coming home till the streetlights came on.
In addition to his wife, Debbie, Mr. Cole is survived by his son Joe (Cindy) Cole of Panama City Beach, FL; siblings, Roger (Gail) Cole of Witt, Fred (Vanessa) Cole of Patoka, Brenda (Dick) Rompasky of Nokomis and Marla Cole of Nokomis; his beloved dog, Buddy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cole was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Mary; sisters, Barbara (Cole) Johnson, Connie (Cole) Oke; brothers, Ronnie Cole and Jackie Wayne Cole, in infancy; nieces, Shona (Cole) Edwards and Bridgit (Rompasky) Hines; and nephews, Shane Cole and Matthew Cole
