Theodore Arden Johnson, 85, of Wildwood, died on March 30, 2008, at Manor Care in Libertyville.

Funeral services will be held graveside at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, at Nokomis Cemetery.  Mr. Johnson will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, and son Karl Robert Johnson. Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home of Nokomis is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Johnson was born on Sept. 9, 1922, to Theodore and Mildred (Berg) Johnson in Chicago,. He married Beatrice Staples on August 21, 1942. Mr. Johnson served in the United States Navy during WWII and later became a member of the Carpenters Union Local #13. When Mr. Johnson was not building homes and additions or renovating a kitchen or bath he loved to listen to classical music and do crossword puzzles while drinking a cup of coffee with a pastry or two. He had a dream of building a sailboat and almost completed that dream before he fell ill with Parkinson’s Disease. He will be remembered for the love he had for his wife and his family, his sense of humor and his willingness to help anyone who needed a hand.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his daughters, Karen (Richard) Herman of La Grange, Karolyn (Spencer) Godfrey of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and Kimberly Johnson Garrigan of Oswego; grandchildren, Jeffrey Herman, Brian (Kristi) Herman, Sally Johnson, Kyle Godfrey, Connor Godfrey, Casey Godfrey, Beatrice Garrigan and Elizabeth Garrigan; and great-grandchildren, Margaret Herman and Abigail Herman.
