Spring Marie Cook, 46, of Greenville, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2024 at 12:22 p.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 16, at 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at Taylor Springs Baptist Church in Taylor Springs, with funeral service at 1 p.m., also at Taylor Springs Baptist Church. The Rev. Gary Stanford, pastor of Taylor Springs Baptist Church, will officiate assisted by the Rev. Chris Harnetiaux. Burial will follow at Cress Hill Cemetery.
Miss Cook was born April 5, 1977 in Hillsboro to Ronnie and Janice M. (Rufus) Cook. Mr. Cook and his wife,Pam, survive. Mrs. Cook preceded her in death on March 13, 2002.
After her mother’s passing, Miss Cook took an active role raising her brothers, Brian and Jeremy. She attended Hillsboro High School and went on to be a CNA and did work in home health care. She attended Taylor Springs Baptist church in Taylor Springs, where she taught Sunday School, and also attended First Baptist Church in Litchfield. She loved watching scary movies and was an animal lover.
Miss Cook is survived by her fiancé and “husband in spirit,” Bruce Reeves; father and stepmother, Ronnie and Pam Cook; brothers, Brian Cook and Jeremy Cook; half-brothers, Ronnie Cook Jr. and Shane Cook; stepchildren, Brandon Reeves, Brianna Reeves, Andrew Reeves and Conner Reeves; uncle, Billy (Ronita) Rufus and aunts, Patty Rufus and Carol Prater.
In addition to her mother, Miss Cook was preceded in death by her grandparents, Clifford “Pat” and Gertrude Rufus, Rex Cook and Lorraine Helfer.
