Ruth J. Best, 98, of St. Charles, formerly of Riverside, died on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021.
A private family memorial service will be held at a future date.
Mrs. Best was born on Dec. 28, 1922, to Edward and Anna (Biskup) Stuchlik. She was raised in Berwyn. She married Dr. William R. Best on Sept. 2, 1944.
Mrs. Best was a lifelong lover of art and music. She graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor’s degree in music. Mrs. Best worked as a medical artist at the University of Illinois Medical School in Chicago. She later freelanced as a medical artist. Mrs. Best was an avid art collector and volunteered for many years in the print and drawing department of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Mrs. Best is survived by her two daughters, Dr. Barbara (Dr. Robert) Mulch and Patricia (Dr. Kurt) Williams; grandchildren, Matthew (Hillary Vervalin) Mulch, Luke (Jennifer) Mulch, Rebecca (fiance, Jose Gonzalez) Williams and Dr. Laura (Alex) Duncan; and great-grandchildren, Lydia Mulch, Charlotte Mulch and Julian Gonzalez.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and her sister, Eleanore.
