Ronnie Plasters Sr. 81, died on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, surrounded by family.
A Celebration of Life was held on Monday, May 22, at Southside Church in Litchfield, where he was a long-time member for over 35 years. A luncheon immediately followed at the Litchfield Moose Lodge.
Mr. Plasters was born on Jan. 22, 1942, to Jesse and Virginia Plasters. He married Judy Plasters, and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage.
Mr. Plasters retired from a long career in coal mining in 2003 from the Crown III Mine in Farmersville. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, mushroom and berry picking, and gardening. He also loved sports, especially basketball (go Illini) and baseball (let’s go Cards). He was a silly, fun-loving family man admired by many for his witty banter, mentorship and determined work ethic.
Mr. Plasters is survived by his wife; five children, Tammy (Joe Blackshare) Plasters, Shirley (Ron Korte) Lovell, Stacy (Robert) Holder, Veronica (David Logsdon) Plasters and Ronnie Plasters, Jr.; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Charlie (Sharon) Plasters, Brenda Smith, Dorothy (Marty) Fulford, William (Diane) Bray, Dennis (Sherry Robison Huston) Plasters and Joyce Graham.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Rick (Gloria) Plasters, Shirley Plasters and Charles Eugene; and brothers-in-law, Alan Graham and Russell Smith.
