Gregory Allen Matthews, 65, of Keenes, died on Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, at his home.
A private graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Centralia with pastor John Willis officiating. Young Funeral Home in Wayne City is assisting the family.
Mr. Matthews was born April 10, 1957, in Hillsboro, to Arthur Jesse and Goldie (McClain) Matthews. He married Valerie Garren on June 15, 2013, and she survives.
He worked as a truck driver for Dorn Trucking in Litchfield and most recently for Conway Freight in Salem.
Mr. Matthews loved listening to classic rock music, enjoying outdoor activities, gardening, morel mushroom hunting and boating. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Dawn (Brian) Tackaberry of Fairview Heights, Amanda Matthews and Ashley Matthews, both of Girard; son, Shawn (fiancee Holly Heyen) Matthews of Girard; first wife, Crystie Matthews; stepdaughter, Brianna Evans of Centralia; three grandchildren, Kyrstyn Tackaberry, Ace Bergman and James Simmons; five stepgrandchildren, Alyssa, Aubrey, Avery, Emma and Jayden; two sisters, Carolyn (George Jr.) Speed of Litchfield and Shelly Hentzien of Chatham; mother-in-law, Mary Lou Garren of Centralia; two sisters-in-law, Leigh Anne Garren of Springfield, MO, and Sadie Matthews of Hillsboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Matthews was preceded in death by his parents; second wife, Cathy Matthews; brother, Dennis Matthews; and grandparents, Oral and Hazel Matthews and George and Ola McClain.
Memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice and will be accepted at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City.
