Edwin W. “Sonny” Sievers, Jr., 91, died on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at his residence in Worden, with family by his side.
Funeral services were held on Friday, May 17, at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton with Pastor Philip Girardin officiating. Burial was held at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Hamel.
Mr. Sievers was born on April 28, 1933, in New Douglas, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Edwin W. and Esther (Sievers) Sievers Sr. He married Carmen Oehler on June 23, 1957, at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton and she survives. He served in the U.S. Army and worked as a farmer on the family farm for many years. He loved his family more than anything.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen; three children, Nadine Sievers of Litchfield, Denise (Keith) Buschmann of Staunton and Kevin (Mary) Sievers of Gillespie; five grandchildren, Jeremy Engelke of Staunton, Jenny (Jason) Overby of Staunton, Justin Engelke of Staunton, Nick Sievers of Edwardsville and Colin Sievers of Worden; three great-grandchildren; two siblings, Melvin (Lucille) Sievers of Staunton and Velma (Don) Granda of New Douglas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sievers was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Joshua McCrady and Brittney Sievers.
