Dwight D. Huffer, 89, of Glen Carbon, died on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, at 4 a.m. at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 16, beginning at 11 a.m. at Clear Springs Cemetery in Hillsboro with David Beeler officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Department of Defense. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family.

Mr. Huffer was born Aug. 1, 1933, in Shelbyville, to Davis P. and Mary M. (Lewis) Huffer. He married Virginia M. Beeler on June 21, 1952, in Hillsboro, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 24, 2019.

He graduated from Hillsboro High School and served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Huffer worked for IBM in Boulder, CO. He was a member of  the Freemasons Organizations, as well as Shriners International in Colorado.

During his lifetime, he resided in Shelbyville, East St. Louis, Collinsville, Boudler, CO, and Glen Carbon.

Mr. Huffer is survived by his adopted daughter, Eunice (husband Don) Hartpence of Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Dale Huffer and Phyllis.
