Clement Pius Serrano, 31, of Carlinville, died of natural causes on Thursday, March 9, 2023, in Carlinville.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Heinz Funeral Home in Carlinville.

Mr. Serrano was born Feb. 13, 1992, in Jerseyville, to David and Angela (Buxbaum) Serrano.

He was known throughout Carlinville and surrounding communities as a very gifted musician, with the clarinet and piano as his showcase instruments. He relished any opportunity to share his talent when he could, often playing solos for the community band. He was even more generous with his family, delighting them with spectacular improvisations sampling Bach to Gershwin within just a few bars, and a master of improvising Klezmer music with his grandfather.

Mr. Serrano also shared his wonderful artistry through his short stories, cartoon illustrations and master of jokes. Apart from his many talents, he was a very gentle, kind, thoughtful and spiritual person with an infectious laugh.

While in high school, he made first chair clarinet in the Illinois State Honors Band, as well as first chair clarinet in the Illinois Youth Symphony Orchestra. He graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 2010.

A beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew and uncle, Mr. Serrano will be dearly missed by his family, and his memory is indeed a blessing.

He is survived by his mother, Angela Buxbaum Serrano of Bloomington; father, David (Kim) Serrano of Carlinville; grandparents, Laurence and Melba Buxbaum of Carlinville and Domenick and Laura Serrano of Southport, NC; siblings, Alexander (Katie) Serrano of Troy, Ambrose (Leslie) Serrano of Wilmington, NY, Catherine Serrano of Bloomington, David Serrano II of Carlinville, Patrick Serrano of Witt and Christopher Serrano of Walcott, IA; nieces and nephew, Audrey, Elsie and Weston; aunts, Rachel Buxbaum of Springfield and Jennifer Greene of Wappingers Falls, NY; and uncles, Justin Serrano of Brooklyn, NY, Seth Serrano of Edison, NJ, and Zach Serrano of North Chesterfield, VA.
