Cheryl Ann Whitten, 66, of Hillsboro, died on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at 2:22 a.m. at her residence.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 20, from 12 to 3 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the church. The Rev. Joe Lawson and the Rev. Michael Plummer will officiate. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro.
Mrs. Whitten was born on Feb. 2, 1958, in Hillsboro, to William “Bill” and Theresa (Jagosh) Whitley. Her father preceded her in death on May 12, 2011, while her mother survives in Hillsboro. She married Mike Whitten on Feb. 26, 1977, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, and he survives in Hillsboro.
Mrs. Whitten graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1976 and lived in Hillsboro her entire life. She worked at McFarlin Medical Clinic in Hillsboro and then for the City of Hillsboro, where she retired from in August of 2014.
Mrs. Whitten was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro. She enjoyed bicycling, hiking, pickleball, swimming, traveling and attending Christian music concerts. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especiallly her grandchildren. Her favorite phrase was “love you more.”
In addition to her husband and mother, Mrs. Whitten is survived by her two daughters, Amy (husband Ron) Maedge of Staunton and Mary (husband John) Battuello of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, Landon (wife Grace) Maedge, Kinslee Maedge, Briar Maedge, Scarlett Battuello and Leo Battuello; two brothers, William “Billy” (wife Lori) Whitley of Seattle, WA, and Michael (wife Jennifer) Whitely of Anamosa, IA; and several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
