Bert C. Arnold, 96, of Litchfield, died on Nov. 22, 2023 at the home of his daughter, Margi Brockhaus in Mission, KS. 

A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Arnold was born on Monday, Oct. 24, 1927. He attended Blackburn College where he met his wife Annette “Ande” Schroeder. He received his BS degree from Washington University in St. Louis. They were married Sept. 10, 1949, and she preceded him in death on May 27, 1999.

An Army veteran, Mr. Arnold served in the occupational services of WWII in Japan. In civilian life, he primarily was affiliated with the Litchfield Grocery Co. He was also a partner in Arbeco frozen food distributors and WJ’s Convenience Store.  Mr. Arnold was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church, the longest member on record at the Litchfield Country Club, a Rotarian and a past member the Litchfield Elks Club. He was a lifelong Litchfield resident.

He is survived by his two daughters, Patty Brockhaus (Larry) of Chandler, AZ and Margi Brockhaus (Jerry) of Mission, KS; four grandchildren, Ashley Saunders (Adam), Michael Brockhaus (Wendie), Andrew Brockhaus (Amy) and Kacie Matias; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Maynard Arnold; and two sisters, Virginia Driskell and Marian Yaeger.
