Ailene Katherina (Fuchs) Schmidt, 99, of Litchfield, died on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 12, 2023, at her residence.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 1 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Fred Kramer and the Rev. Tim Wilcoxen co-officiating. Burial will be held at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield.

Mrs. Schmidt was born Oct. 26, 1923, in Farmersville, to Herman R. and Anna Wilhemina “Minnie” (Holtkoetter) Fuchs. She married Herman R. Fuchs on Dec. 22, 1951, in Farmersville, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 5, 1991.

She graduated from Farmersville High School at the age of 16. She was a homemaker and retired from Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield as a cook for the school.

Mrs. Schmidt was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, where she helped with the Ladies Aid Society, making quilts. She loved crocheting, babysitting and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Vernetta (Lindell) Hardt and Anita “Pete” (Ronald) Davis, both of Litchfield, Arla Mae (John) Luther of Oregon, and Kathy (Greg) Entzenberger of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Hardt Sachs, Sunnie (Bill) Gulliver, Blaze Hardt, Corrie (Fred) Campbell, Dusttie (Dan) Buck, Christopher (Tina) Luther, Eric (Sara) Luther, Douglas Luther, Brandie (A.J.) Meyers, Ronald Davis Jr., April (Dennis) Rottmann, Ryan (Miranda) Davis, Roger (Brittany) Davis, Ashley (Dustin) Everett, Gretchen Entzenberger and Andrew (Danielle) Entzenberger; 35 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Schmidt was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Lucas Hardt; great-great-grandson, Finley Lane; and brothers, Alfred and Vernon Fuchs and one in infancy.
