Sandra Sue (Porter) Hand, 71, of Hillsboro, died Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 7:29 a.m. in Hillsboro.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 20, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with a memorial service to begin at 11a.m., also at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home. Austin Fairchild, Chaplin for Vitas Hospice, will officiate. Inurnment will be in Cress Hill Cemetery in Hillsboro.
Mrs. Hand was born June 8, 1953, in Hillsboro to the late William Porter and Frances (Yantis) Porter Hanauer. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, and went on to marry Timothy Hand on July 14, 1979 in Hillsboro. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2021.
Mrs. Hand worked for the Illinois Department of Revenue in Springfield as a tax specialist. She also loved needlepoint and crafts in general, as well as St. Louis Cardinal baseball and the University of Illinois Fighting Illini. During her life she lived in Hillsboro and Sherman.
Mrs. Hand is survived by her son, Zachary (wife Tracy) Hand of Aurora; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
