Ray Boyd Hughes, 87, of Mt. Olive, died at 6:37 a.m. May 27, 2024, at John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis, MO.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, June 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Becker and Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive. Masonic and military services will begin at 7 p.m. following the visitation at the funeral home.
Mr. Hughes was born on Dec. 28, 1936, to Boyd Hughes and Anna (Saathoff) Hughes in Litchfield. He attended Mt. Olive High School and graduated with the class of 1954. He was a member of the United States Marine Corp. After his honorable discharge from the military, he became a farmer.
Mr. Hughes was a member of the Marine Corps League Prairie Land Leatherneck Detachment 1385 Litchfield; the Lincoln Land Leathernecks Detachment 1174, Greenville; the Freemasons of New Douglas; the United States Marines Devil Dogs; and the History Museum in Greenville.
Mr. Hughes is survived by a son, William Alan (Deidra Ann) Hughes; daughter, Rae Ann Hughes; and stepson, Dale Lee Fritzsche.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
