Mark Steven Gray, 74, of Litchfield, died on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 12:43 p.m., at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Visitation will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, at the Christian Church of Litchfield. A Celebration of Life will follow at 4:30 p.m. with the Rev. Tim Barbee officiating. Plummer Funeral Services is assisting the family.
Mr. Gray was born on March 28, 1950, in Decatur, to the late Dale and Patricia (Smith) Gray. He married Pamela Y. Ecker on March 27, 1986, at the First Baptist Church in Litchfield, and she survives. He began his career as a meat cutter at Eagle Food Stores. He was later promoted to inspector and remained there until the store closed. He continued his passion for meat cutting at Litchfield Super Walmart, where he also managed the deli for many years. He then transitioned to Rural King in Litchfield for the last eight years of his fulfilling career.
He was a member of the Christian Church of Litchfield and enjoyed spending time with his family, taking his dog, Ginger, on walks, fishing, woodworking, yard work, grilling and making his famous egg rolls.
Mr. Gray is survived by his wife, Pamela; three sons, Timothy (Annett) Bailey of Branson, MO, Zachory (significant other Grace) Gray of Ft. Collin, CO and Brad (Crystal) Willis of Litchfield; two daughters, Stephanie Webb of Sullivan and Amy (Kyle) Gerdes of Gillespie; two brothers, Paul (Penny) Gray and Dave Hurley, both of Brandenton, FL; four sisters, Teri Munyon of Litchfield, Annie Scott of Chatham, Angie (Wayne) Moody of Texas and Tina (Brian) Maxwell of Litchfield; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Chuck Gray; sister-in-law, Circy Hurley; and beloved dog Ginger.
