Lorraine Ann Maroney, 88, of Hillsboro, died at 2:06 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Hillsboro Health in Hillsboro.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Memorial Service will follow at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Father Daniel Willenborg, Pastor of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Hillsboro.
Mrs. Maroney was born on June 30, 1936, in Somerville, MA, to the late John J. and Bertha (Pierce) Hayes. She was a graduate of Howe High School in Billerica, MA. She married Thomas Maroney on October 21, 1961 in Billerica, MA, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 19, 2010.
Mrs. Maroney spent her life as a homemaker, always ensuring her family was taken care of. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro and the Taylor Springs Food and Toy Drive. She also loved to complete word search puzzles, play bunco, watch ice skating on television and most importantly, spend time with family and grandchildren.
Mrs. Maroney is survived by her daughter, Pam Maroney (companion Scott Knight) of Panama; son-in-law, Chuck Vunetich of Hillsboro; granddaughters, Lauryn (husband, Zach) Roberts of Centralia, Carly Vunetich of Hamel and Halle Vunetich of Hillsboro; and brother, John Walter Hayes of Massachusetts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and daughter, Karen Vunetich, who preceded on Dec. 20, 2020.
