Linda Sue (Barr) Miller, 74, of Nokomis, died on Thursday, May 30, at her home of 48 years, surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4. A celebration of life memorial service will follow at the First Baptist Church of Nokomis. Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home of Nokomis is assisting with arrangements.
Mrs. Miller was born on Nov. 30, 1949, in Pana, to Walter and Mary Alice (Wallar) Barr. She married Ronald L. Miller on Dec. 7, 1968 and he survives. The couple lived in Taylorville and Pana before moving to Nokomis in 1976 and starting their family shortly thereafter. Family dinners always included a little bit of chaos and a lot of love.
She wore many hats during her lifetime, but first and foremost she was a loving mother and grandmother, wonderful wife and beautiful friend. She was a homemaker, but also held several jobs inside and outside of the home. She owned and operated her own cake and catering business, Cake Creations, and her favorite job outside of the home was being a breakfast cook for the Nokomis unit schools. She was a very talented artist, was an amazing seamstress and most of all liked having a good time no matter what she was doing. She will be incredibly missed.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband; four daughters, Angie (Randy) Gross of Nokomis, Amy (Keith) Thrasher of Taylorville, Lauri (Michael) Smalley of Nokomis and Lisa (Clifton) Miller of Beecher City; nine grandchildren, Corey (Brett) Gross, Caleb (Brooke) Gross, Cameron (Megan) Gross, Lucas Smalley, Mason Stewart, Jordan Smalley, Milana Henson, Ellison Miller and Isaac Miller; six great-grandchildren, Logan, Blakely, Layton, Graham, Lucy and Brinlea Gross.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association, in honor of her grandson Corey Gross.
