Layne Albert “Cotton” Stauffer, 66, of Benld, died at his residence on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024, at 8:53 a.m.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Stauffer was born on Oct. 29, 1957, in Alton, to the late Collis Stauffer and Joy Show Stauffer. He was a truck driver and was a member of the Wilsonville Progressive Club. He was an avid bowler who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his former wife, Lynne Williams of Litchfield; daughter, Jennifer Stauffer of Litchfield; grandchildren, Alyssa Stauffer of Granite City and Emma Stauffer of Litchfield; siblings, Lynn (Angelika) Stauffer of California, Lloyd (Lois) Stauffer of Ohio, Loren (Gail) Stauffer of North Carolina.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stauffer was preceded in death by his wife, Julie Stauffer; sister, Lucinda Miller; and children, Joshua Stauffer, Nicole Stauffer, Casey Stauffer and Cody Stauffer.
