He was drafted into the United States Army. He was sent to Fort Belvidere for Officer’s Training School and from there he was sent to Korea, but the Armistice Agreement was signed when he was on a ship headed to Korea to the DMZ. Together he and his wife started a D.J. business, the first of its kind in the Hillsboro area, serving weddings and many other special occasions. A few years later, The couple, along with their children, started a modest restaurant on School St., “The Main Dish,” which became a thriving business, also selling salad dressing to local businesses, as well as other restaurants.
Mr. Milanos was an avid fisherman and hunter, he was also an avid poker player for a number of years. He never met a stranger, loved family and whenever anyone asked how he was, he always said “I’ve never had a bad day”.
