Helen B. Sale Fernandes, 86, of Springfield, died on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Springfield.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m. at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until service time on Saturday. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery in Raymond.
Mrs. Fernandes was born to William and Berniece (Hill) Sale on May 21, 1938. She married Ronald Fernandes and he preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Hillsboro High School; she worked her entire life in banking in the Springfield area as a data processor.
Mrs. Fernandes loved her cats and reading. She was a diehard St. Louis Cardinal fan. Traveling was her passion; she traveled to numerous U.S. states and on several overseas tours.
Mrs. Fernandes is survived by one son Michael, (Sarah) Fernandes of Virden; two grandchildren, Daniel and Katelynn Fernandes; and one sister, Eleanor Shroyer of Mt. Olive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald; and two brothers, William “Willie” and Charles Sale and two sisters in infancy, Louise and Mary Sale.
