Gary G. Pieper, 72, of Staunton, died at 6:41 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024,at his residence in Staunton.
No services are scheduled.
Mr. Pieper was born on April 6, 1952 in Staunton, the son of the late Lawrence “Babe” and Dorothy “Dot” (Hesi) Pieper. He was first married to Jane Ellen Murphy, then later married to Rhonda Marie Koval, both marriages ended in divorce.
He worked as a lineman for Norfolk & Western Railroad for several years. He then worked as a roadie for The Grateful Dead for several years and later owned his own painting business. He was an avid gardener, outdoorsman and fisherman and he loved to cook. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Staunton.
Mr. Pieper is survived by his daughter, Jenifer L. (George) Markulakis of Litchfield; sons, Matthew Jon (Anya Case) Pieper of Beaufort, SC, Neil Alexander Pieper of St. Louis, MO and Gram Pieper of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Charles Alex Horn, Brandon White, Jenna White and Aailyah; great-grandchildren, Leighton, Charlie, Diana and Paisley; brothers, Richard (Tonya) Pieper of Staunton and Terry (Dawn) Pieper of Southport, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Laurie Pieper.
