Burl LaVern Vogel, 87, of Hillsboro, died on Wednesday, June 5, at 10:30 a.m. at Greenville Nursing and Rehab in Greenville.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 9, at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Mark Noyes officiating. Burial took place at Donnellson Cemetery in Donnellson with military rites accorded.
Mr. Vogel was born on Dec. 8, 1936, in Hillsboro, to the late Ernest and Hazel (Micenhiemer) Vogel. He married Joyce Mullins, and they later divorced. He then married Donna File on June 26, 1982, in Hillsboro and she survives.
He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a lineman and repairman at Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company and retired after more than 35 years. He was a member of Illinois Consolidated Local Union #702 and Ducks Unlimited.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Vogel is survived by his children, Mark Vogel of Denver, CO and Pearl Mary (Becky) Moler-Billo of Hillsboro; stepchildren, Melody (Troy) White of Coffeen, Randy (Pat) Miller of Bunker Hill and Mark (Alice) Miller of Lansing, KS; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and sibling, Bonnie Boston of Hillsboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son; Burl Vogel, Jr., and siblings Robert Vogel, William Vogel, Mercedes Lessman, Betty Ott and Merle Vogel.
Memorials may be left to the activity fund at Greenville Nursing and Rehab or PAWS Care of Montgomery County.
