Thomas E. Lindgens, 87, of New Douglas, died on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, at his residence in New Douglas.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Oct. 17, at New Hope Baptist Church in Worden, with Pastor John Heater III officiating. Burial followed at Salem Cemetery in Alhambra.
Mr. Lindgens was born on May 31, 1938, in Alhambra, the son of the late Herman and Catherine (Zeller Lindgens). He married Beatrice Roberts on Sept. 27, 1958, in Livingston, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 20, 2010.
Because he suffered from asthma, he could not join the military, so he went to work as a machinist at McDonnell Douglas Corporation (later Boeing) and worked there for 41 years. He was a member of Local #837, and was also a Charter Member of the Southern Illinois Baptist Convention Team, which provides assistance and relief to flood, tornado and disaster victims. He was also an Ordained Baptist Deacon and served as a Deacon at New Hope Baptist Church in Worden, of which he was a member.
Mr. Lindgens is survived by his daughters, Donna Lindgens of Staunton and Connie Holland of Litchfield; son, Thomas (Tracy) Lindgens, Jr. of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Leonard Lindgens of Worden; sisters, Viola Boschelli of Highland and Anna (Gary) Wilson of Highland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother in infancy; son-in-law, Robert Holland, Jr.; and seven brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, including Ronald Boschelli.
