Marilyn Jean McWard, 88, of Raymond, died on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, at Litchfield Health and Rehab in Litchfield.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1, at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond, at noon, with the Rev. Lorna Blackford officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be at Asbury Cemetery in Raymond.
Mrs. McWard was born on September 1, 1938, to Lawrence W. and Nora M. (Sanders) Poggenpohl. She graduated from the Raymond High School with the class of 1956 and attended Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. She married Don W. McWard on June 29, 1958, at the Raymond Methodist Church in Raymond; he preceded her in death in 2018.
She began her career at Franklin Life, where she worked for ten years, left to raise her family, and later returned to Franklin Life, where she worked until she retired. She then worked as a secretary for Gerald Huber and Barbara Adams. She was a member of Home Extension for many years prior to it becoming Connections; she was quite the seamstress and liked to cook. She really enjoyed taking day trips with her husband. She was a member of the Community of Faith Church in Raymond.
Mrs. McWard is survived by her son, Aaron (Amy) McWard of Raymond; her daughter, Donna (Roger) Myers of Raymond; her granddaughter, Karson (Adam) Engel of Mascoutah; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her brother.
