John R. Gusick Jr., 53, of Hillsboro died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023, at HSHS St. Johns Hospital in Springfield.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held. Hough Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mr. Gusick was born on July 14, 1970 in Blue Island to John R. Gusick Sr. and Margaret “Peggy” (Tuxford) Harris.He was a 1989 Graduate of Hillsboro High School and got his CDL at Lincoln Land Community College. He was an over the road truck driver and most recently a cook assistant at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Mr. Gusick lived life carefree, simply and unapologetically his own way. He loved storms, music, eating, nature, geography, the Green Bay Packers, St. Louis Blues and Cardinals, and especially spending time with his family.
He is survived by his mother, Peggy Harris of Clay City and stepfather Fred Harris of Clay City; siblings Laura Gusick of Springfield, Sara (Bryan) Burnham of Jamestown, ND, and Jeff (Megan) Gusick of Crystal Lake; and his dog Stormy.
He was preceded in death by his father John.
