John Edward Carroll, 68

John Edward Carroll, 68, of Salem, formerly of Nokomis, died on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025, at his son’s home surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis with John Sanders officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Nokomis Cemetery.

Mr. Carroll was born on Dec. 3, 1956, in Pana, the son of Alva and Betty (Newcome) Carroll. He married Janet (Walters) Carroll and they later divorced. He later married Bonnie (Thompson) Carroll, and she survives in Salem.

Mr. Carroll began working out of high school for the Pana Greenhouse and then as a truck driver for most of his life.  He enjoyed farming and worked for Lanracorp until he retired. He was also a member of New Life Church in Salem. 

Mr. Carroll is survived by his mother, Betty Carroll of Nokomis; wife, Bonnie of Salem; children, April Carroll of Salem, Jessica (wife, Samara) Carroll of Salem, Jason (wife, Melissa) Carroll of Salem, and Amy (husband, Joe) Lane of Centralia; step-children, Kisten Swisher of Salem and Karissa Durham of Salem; siblings, Brenda Krusley of Pana, Charlotte Carroll of Nokomis, David Carroll of Nokomis and Barbara (husband Charles) Maroon of Brownstown; 11 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Janet Carroll.

He was preceded in death by his father; nephew, Justin Carroll; and niece, Kati Carroll.
