James Vernon Davis, 97, of Litchfield, died at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, at 9:05 p.m.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Sept. 6 at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie. Burial was held at Carlinville City Cemetery in Carlinville. Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie assisted the family.
Mr. Davis was born on Nov. 22, 1926, in Overland, MO, to Robert and Ora Mae Davis.
He had various jobs in his adult career including working at Prairie Glove in Carlinville and the City of Doniphan, MO. He was affiliated with Cornerstone Ministries in Litchfield. He enjoyed walking, swimming, reading the Bible, helping others in the time of need and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his daughters, Cathy (Randy) Miller of Taylorville and Ruth Childers of Carlinville; sons, Daniel, Roy and Jim Davis, all of Carlinville; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Thelma Crider of Wellsville, MO,and former wife, Carolyn Mills Bogue of Carlinville.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his brothers, Marvin Davis, Robert Davis, Virgil Davis and Dave Davis; and great-granddaughter, Alexis Miller.
