Carol Marie Beard, 62, of Virden, died on Monday morning, Sept. 9, 2024, at her mother’s residence in rural Raymond.
Private family burial was held in Bethel Ridge Cemetery in Carlinville. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville is assisting the family.
Mrs. Beard was born on April 27, 1962 in Taylorville, the daughter of Howard and Beulah Eileen Patrick Clark. She married Charles William Beard on Sept. 1, 1984, on the family farm in Atwater, and he survives.
She attended Raymond High School, where she played on the volleyball team and graduated with her class in 1980.
She retired from the Carlinville Walmart store after 30 years. She retired in 2021 as a department manager. She enjoyed spending time with her family, including her fur babies and grandfur babies. Her hobbies included throwing darts, playing bingo and playing cards and other games with family and friends, especially with longtime friend Marie Moore Goeringer.
In addition to her husband and mother, Mrs. Beard is survived by her daughters Samantha “Sam” (Tom) Rauzi of Burnsville, NC and Kimberly “Kim” Beard of Virden; grandson, Killian Birdsell; sister, Rose (Ray) Thompson of Erie; brother, Jeffery Clark of Raymond; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Beard was preceded in death by her father, William Howard Clark.
