Hillsboro Changes Area For Fireworks

Posted

In order to accommodate an enhanced fireworks display with the use of larger caliber shells, the City of Hillsboro has relocated the launch site for the 2024 Fourth of July show. The move was also made in an effort to make the event safer.
Fireworks will now be launched approximately 600 feet south of Lake Glenn Shoals with the performance set to begin at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Thursday evening, July 4.
Optimum viewing sites include on Hillsboro Lake across from the old beach looking north, on Lake Glenn Shoals looking south and the Lake Glenn Shoals Emergency Overflow looking southwest. Traditional fireworks viewing at 4th of July Point and the Hillsboro Sports Complex south parking lot will be available, but may be obstructed.
Parking will be available at 4th of July Point, the Hillsboro Police Shooting Range, the Lake Glenn Shoals Emergency Overflow and along Glenn Shoals Drive on the south and east sides of the road.
Glenn Shoals Drive will be closed from the South Marina parking lot to the top of the shooting range beginning 15 minutes before the start of the display and will remain closed until the show has concluded.
