Mrs. Adams was born March 22, 1924, in Grand Tower to John and Hazel Rhodes. She and Charles “Dutch” Adams were married March 11, 1947, until his death in 2009.
After graduating from Grand Tower High School, Mrs. Adams joined the war effort by taking a job at Curtis Wright in St. Louis, MO. Due to her small stature, she was tasked with crawling into the wing section of the aircrafts to buck rivets.
The couple started their married life in Meredosia, where her husband worked for CIPS (now Ameren Illinois). CIPS later relocated them to Hillsboro and then finally back home to Grand Tower. They loved ballroom dancing and upon his retirement from the electric plant in Grand Tower, they moved to Cape Girardeau, MO.
Mrs. Adams is survived by her two daughters, Linda (Alan) Logsdon of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Patricia Adams of Arizona; as well as one grandson, Charles H. Emerson, of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
