William “Bill” Elsworth Hawley, 77, of Idaho Falls, ID, died May 23, 2026, at his home.

A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at Wood Funeral Home located at 273 N. Ridge Avenue in Idaho Falls, ID. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.

Mr. Hawley was born May 17, 1949, in Hillsboro to Lawrence Elsworth Hawley and Dorothy Manuell Hawley. He grew up and attended schools in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School. In 1968-1970, Bill was drafted into the United States Army and stationed in Germany.

On May 17, 1971, he married the love of his life, Mary Jane Stevens, in Hillsboro. Mr. Hawley and his wife made their home in Idaho Falls, ID, where he co-owned a concrete business for many years before becoming a public works inspector for the City of Idaho Falls.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, snowmobiling, cooking and baking and most of all spending time with his friends and family, whom he adored.

Mr. Hawley is survived by his daughter, Misty Hawley of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Sondra Witcher of Pocatello, ID; son, Steve (Debbie) Woolf of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Deborah White of Decatur; sister, June (Robert) Bell of Witt; brother, Bryan Hawley of Dalton City; grandchildren, Rian Hawley, Tosha Welch, Mandy (Sebastian) März, Kelsey (Hayden) Green, Emma Woolf, Jeremiah Woolf, Shantell Crowson, Bridgette Edwards, Zachary Woolf, Michael (Ashley) Woolf and Britney Woolf; 26 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Hawley; son, Shane Woolf; parents, Lawrence and Dorothy Hawley; sister, Marsha Hawley; and his grandparents.
