Urith M. “Dot” Birkenkamp, 89, of Nokomis died on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at Heritage Health: Therapy and Senior Care in Pana.

A private family graveside service is planned for a later date. Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis is assisting the family.

Mrs. Birkenkamp was born May 25, 1931, in Walshville, to Alvis and Ina Maude Ferguson. She married Joseph Niewinski, and he preceded her in death. She then married Arthur Moreland, and he preceded her in death. She later married Fred Birkenkamp, and he preceded her in death.

A high school graduate, she served as head cook at Nokomis High School and Golden Manor Nursing Home.

Mrs. Birkenkamp is survived by her children, Mary Kay (Ken) Buchanan of Cleveland, TX, Linda Dirks, Jean (Bill) McCall, both of Nokomis, Jeffrey (Julie) Niewinski of Taylorville and Juli (Glenn) Wilbur of Pana; grandchildren, Tony Woodall, Tricia Abrams, Michael Dirks, Kelli Gregg, Jason Niewinski, Rhett Niewinski, Nikki Wanger, Rachel McCall, Justin Wilbur, Trevor Wilbur and Torrey Wilbur; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; son, Steven, in infancy; sister, Audrey Wilman; and brothers, Ed and Bernard Ferguson.
