Mary Alice Young, 93, of Litchfield, died the afternoon of Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, at Gillespie Health and Rehab.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, Oct. 19, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield with Pastor Tim Barbee officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Mrs. Young was born in Honey Bend, on Nov. 17, 1932, a daughter of George Samuel and Edna M. (Furgerson) Widner. She married Russell Owen Young Sr., on March 31, 2001, at Tower Hill Christian Church in Tower Hill. They enjoyed nearly twenty years of marriage before he passed.
She was a member of Tower Hill Christian Church and of the Litchfield Senior Citizens Club. She attended the Christian Church of Litchfield and enjoyed camping, especially at Sherwood Forest Campground in Hillsboro, taking trips to Branson, MO, and attending bluegrass festivals.
Mrs. Young is survived by her sisters, Lucy Perkins of Mattoon, Lillian Hemken of Walshville and Wanda Widner of Pleasant Plains; stepchildren, Kevin Young, Sherry Lindsay and Kayla Olinger; and several nieces and nephews as well as several great nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepson, Russell Young Jr.;twin brothers, William and Luther Widner; and siblings Paul Widner, George Steven Widner, James S. Widner, Russell M. Widner and Harriet M. Stewart.
