Trojans Start Strong To Beat Redskins

A strong start set the tone for the Madison Trojans on Saturday, Dec. 11, as they defeated Nokomis 59-37 in the last of eight games at the T. Todt Shootout on the Redskins’ home floor.

The visitors from the metro-east pestered the Redskins defensively and held them to just two points, a field goal by senior Jake Johnson. On the other end of the court, Madison spread out 13 points between four different players, with Eric Hurst and Carlis Wilson leading the team with four points each.

The Redskins would up their offensive production in the next three quarters, netting double figures in each frame. Elijah Aumann found his groove, finishing with 19 points after seven points in the second quarter, four in the third and eight in the fourth.

Jake Johnson also added in 12 points, including six in the third quarter, but the Redskins had only two other players score, Reece Lohman with four and Ryan Eisenbarth with two.

Nokomis’ increase in offense didn’t translate into a smaller deficit unfortunately, as Madison outscored them 22-11 in the second and 20-14 in the third. Nokomis would win the fourth 10-4, but by that time, the game was firmly in hand for the Trojans.

Deangelo Enlow led Madison with 17 points, followed by Eric Hurst with 11 and Carlis Wilson with 10. Six different players scored at least four points for the Trojans, who are 6-2 on the season.

Nokomis was scheduled to play Pana on Tuesday, Dec. 14, but that game was pushed back to Jan. 13. Instead, their next game won’t be until Friday, Dec. 17, when they host the Mt. Olive Wildcats.
