Tolly “Jim” Goldsmith, Jr, 72, of Nokomis died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023, at Pana Health and Rehab in Pana.

A visitation for Mr. Goldsmith will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20.  Funeral services will be immediately following at Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis.  A burial will follow in Nokomis Cemetery. 

Mr. Goldsmith was born in Pana on March 9, 1951, the son of Tolliver “Tolly” and Helen “Thelma” (Shelton) Goldsmith.  He graduated from Pana High School with the Class of 1970.  He and Dawn Presnell were married on June 11, 1988, at St. Mark’s Church and had been married for 35 years.

Jim spent most of his life in rural Oconee, helping on the family farm.  He moved to Nokomis in 1984 and went to work for Oconee Grain Company before retiring in 2017.

Mr. Goldsmith is survived by his wife, Dawn; brothers, Harry (Janet) Goldsmith of Madisonville, TX and Larry (Joan) Goldsmith of Taylorville and sisters, Joyce Gulley of Pana, Linda (Terry) Hinton of Witt and Wilma Graden of Nokomis; in-laws, Paula and Twila Presnell of Wenonah and brothers-in-law Greg (Jennifer) Presnell of Nokomis, Brent (Rhonda) Presnell of Wenonah and Jeff Presnell of Coalton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tolly and Thelma Goldsmith; grandparents, Thomas T. Goldsmith, O.J. and Bertha (Meier) Barringer, Thomas W. Shelton, Robert Drew, Albert and Ruth (Powis) Black; sister-in-law, Elsie (Bell) Goldsmith; and brothers-in-law, Raymond Gulley and James Graden.
