“Shop Hillsboro” returns this weekend with the Summer Sidewalk Sale, set for Saturday, June 19.
A cooperative effort between The Journal-News, Imagine Hillsboro, and the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce, Shop Hillsboro events are designed to highlight the incredible and unique opportunities to shop in Hillsboro. The promotion began with a Mardi Gras event in February 2020 before the pandemic cancelled further plans.
Shop Hillsboro Summer Sidewalk Sale on Saturday will be an excellent time to visit retailers such as Hardcore Hammers, The Holiday Shop, The Salvation Army, The Dressing Room, Nzuri Boutique, Sullivan’s, Sweet Addictions and Street Eats, Lomas Del Sol, Blackboard Mercantile, Diamonds and Dogs, Alexandrea, Sage on Sage and others. Jorn Sign Company and Hiller’s Heating & Cooling are also supporting sponsors of the event.
Those who “Shop Hillsboro” on Saturday can also enter to win $50 in Chamber Bucks. Just shop at a participating business on June 19, email a copy or picture of your receipt to email@example.com or drop it off at The Journal-News office by 5 p.m. Friday, June 25.
One lucky winner will be selected at random for $50 in Chamber Bucks.
“There is so much going on in Hillsboro right now that we just want to take every opportunity to promote it–and enjoy it,” Journal-News publisher Mike Plunkett said.“Our friends at Imagine Hillsboro and the Hillsboro Chamber are energetic partners who love promoting their town, and our wonderful merchants came up with lots of clever ways to participate.”
Future Shop Hillsboro events include a Rock the Block event in connection with the return of Imagine Hillsboro’s summer concerts in July, a Moonlight Madness event in August, a pirate-themed event in September, and adult trick-or-treat event in October.
