The Rev. Joe Elden Amos, 63, of Raymond, died the evening of Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, at First Baptist Church of Mt. Olive. Pastor Gary Hanover will officiate. Visitation and fellowship will follow the service. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is serving the family.
The Rev. Amos was born on Aug. 20, 1962, in Wheat Ridge, CO, a son of Cecil D. and Della P. (Gish) Amos. He graduated from Pawnee High School with the class of 1981 and later graduated from Lincoln Land Community College. He married the former Tina Marie Schwab on Aug. 31, 1991, at New Hope Assembly of God Church in Taylorville, and she survives. He was employed as a maintenance engineer for Memorial Medical Center in Springfield for 32 years. He was later head of maintenance of Latter Rain Ministries in Litchfield. Additionally, he was a retired volunteer firefighter and EMT with Edinburg and Morrisonville fire departments and ambulance services. He was known for lending a helping hand where he could, fixing and repairing items for people. He enjoyed working on cars and playing guitar and piano. Most importantly, he unapologetically shared the Word of Christ. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Olive.
He is survived by his wife, Tina M. Amos of Raymond; mother, Della Amos of Taylorville; sons, Caleb Amos of Raymond and Christopher Lee of Litchfield; daughters, Rachel Amos of Granite City, Ambra Lee of Litchfield and LeAnna Amos of Raymond; sisters, Della (Bob) Montgomery of Orlando, FL, Susie (Kenny) Johnson of Independence, MO, and Katie (John) Fenelon of Auburn; grandchildren, Lucas Amos and LaKaya Lee; godmother, Sam Brooks; and several nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Amos was preceded in death by his father, Cecil D. Amos.
