Tarr Arraigned Monday In Thanksgiving Shooting


A Collinsville man who faces four felony charges after a Thanksgiving Day shooting in Farmersville was formally arraigned in Montgomery County Circuit Court on Monday, Jan. 3.

Robert J. Tarr, 48, of Collinsville, was charged with shooting Leslie J. Reeves, 45, of Troy, and Christopher J. Smith, 48, of Farmersville, on Nov. 25.  Reeves was pronounced dead at the scene, while Smith was critically injured and remains hospitalized.

On Monday in court, Judge Jim Roberts found probable cause on all four felony counts after sworn testimony by Jeff Roach of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.  The defendant pleaded not guilty and asked for a jury trail.  A pre-trial hearing has been set for 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 16.

Tarr remains in Montgomery County Jail on $3 million bond.  He is represented by attorney David Farhenkamp of Edwardsville.  Montgomery County State’s Attorney Andrew Affrunti is prosecuting the case.
