Sharon Kay Peterson, 75, of Greenville, died Tuesday evening, March 2, 2021, at her residence.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 6, at Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville with Matt Mendenhall officiating. Interment was held in Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Greenville.
Mrs. Peterson was born April 10, 1945, at the family home, outside of Greenville in the rural Mulberry Grove area, to Wallace Ward and Gwendolyn Viola (Elmore) Lash. She married Richard Lee “Pete” Peterson on Feb. 9, 1963, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 2016.
She grew up in Bond County, attended Concord School near Mulberry Grove, Hunter School, Ingles School and Greenville High School with the class of 1963. She was one of 11 kids growing up and helped at the home, taking care of her siblings.
Mrs. Peterson worked at DeMoulin Brothers and later at the Shopping Center. She then hosted in-home day care for many years. She loved flowers, but her biggest love was taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Amy Michelle (husband Steve) Bohannon of Greenville and Jeffrey Scott Peterson of Ft. Worth, TX; five grandchildren, Kaylee (Dylan) Pearman, Lukas Hamby, Robert “Bob” (Becca Phillips) Bohannon, Karyssa (Zach Slatton) Bohannon and Allison (Marlon) Bohannon-Register; six great-grandchildren, Aubree Pearman, Wiley Pearman, Braedon Bohannon, Averee Pearman, Briar Hamby and Luca Register; many loved bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Ruth (Gerald) Sugg of Greenville, Naomi Redding of Sorento, Patricia (Galen) Isringhausen of Greenville and Marsha (Estel) Grigg of Arkansas; and brother-in-law, Willard Carter.
In addition to her parents and her husband of 52 years, she was preceded in death by siblings, Sue (George) Bush, Loyd (Deloris) Lash, Mike Lash, Edward Lash, Leila Pearson and Jane Carter; and brother-in-law, Glen Redding.
Memorials may be made to the Bond County Hospice or Lemuel Rhodes Foundation.
