Sharon Ann Rowland, 85, of Raymond, died peacefully in her home on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

According to her wishes, no services are planned. The family is planning a celebbration of life at a later date. Hough-Dean Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mrs. Rowland was born on Aug. 21, 1940, a daughter of Carl and Norma (Vogel) Routt in Girard.

A graduate of Raymond High School with the class of 1958, she married Jim Lanter and together they had five children; and they later divorced. She married Neil Rowland in Edwardsville in 1992, and were together until his passing in 2003.

Mrs. Rowland enjoyed flower gardening, rock collecting, studying Native American history and politics, but she had a knack for shopping like no other. She would open and close the stores. She loved bookstores, clothing stores, and shoe stores; some days she did not buy a single thing, she just enjoyed the process of shopping. She would often invite others to join her on her missions to “shop ’til you drop.”

She is survived by her sons, Gary Lanter of Springfield, Larry (Pam) Lanter of Raymond and Jack (Dana) Lanter of Pittsfield; daughters, Terri Ann Olack of Pontoon Beach and Sherri Cook of Farmersville; sister, Paula Routt of Carbondale; grandchildren, Max (Catherine) Olack of Washington, D.C., Sara Olack of St. Louis, MO, Kayla (Jake) Garman of Pana, Lacey (Blake Larson) Lanter of Los Angeles, CA, Tony Boehler of Iowa City, IA, Lora Boehler of St. Louis, MO, Hanna Boehler of St. Louis, MO, Madilyn Lanter of Pittsfield and Macie Lanter of Pittsfield; great-grandchild, Baylor Rogers; and step-grandchild, Hadlee Garman.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Neil, Mrs. Rowland was preceded in death by her sister, Carla Sue Arnett and her great-granddaughter, Emelia Heatherly.
