Scott Lynn Enslow, 61, died on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
A celebration of Mr. Enslow’s life will be held on Memorial Day, May 25, at Pop’s Homestead from 1 to 4 p.m.
Mr. Enslow was born on Nov. 28, 1964, in Springfield and made his home in Atwater. He was a master journeyman welder who traveled across the country for his work, something he took great pride in. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Enslow was known for being funny and incredibly entertaining—the kind of person who could make someone burst out laughing even when they didn’t want to. He had a huge heart and was truly the rock of his family. More than anything, Mr. Enslow loved being a dad and being a grandpa. Those were the greatest joys of his life. He also poured himself into working on his farm, building it with his own hands and creating something that meant so much to him.
Mr. Enslow will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his laughter, his strength, and the love he gave so freely.
Mr. Enslow is survived by his daughter, Lexie Mendenhall; beloved grandson, Blake Mendenhall; son-in-law, Robert Mendenhall; brother, Roderick Ward; sisters, Barbara Majors, Sheryl Briggs, Barbara Vickers, and Carol Richards; nephew, Mark Enslow; niece, Sara Mercer Picken; along with many extended friends and family who loved him dearly.
Mr. Enslow was preceded in death by his parents, James Judson Enslow and Rosemary Belk; sister Carla Mercer; siblings Rita Lacy, Bill Estes, and David Samons; and nieces Ginny Kuhlman and Becky Gehret.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Scott’s Memory Garden, 1119 School Street, Hillsboro, Illinois 62049.
