Sam Cravens, 72, of Litchfield, died on June 8, 2021, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Visitation will be held at noon, until the time of service, on Tuesday, June 15, at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m., at the funeral home with Rev. Lynwood Brown officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Cravens was born on May 18, 1949, in Carlinville, to William and Edna (Thorton) Cravens. He worked at Valley Steel in Carlinville and worked on road maintenance for the City of Carlinville. In his spare time, he loved to fish, dance and play the spoons.
Mr. Cravens is survived by one daughter, Jennifer (Dylan) Cravens of Germantown; six grandchildren, Jazmyn, Jamie, John, Nova, Dylan Jr., and Zeppelin; several nieces and nephews; and one sister, Peggy McLarty.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Elmer, Edward, Earl David and Roy Cravens; and sisters, Helen and Lily Cravens.
