When it comes to motorcycle racing in Illinois, “Chase Saathoff” isn’t just a name, it’s what the Hillsboro High School freshman’s opponents spend most of their time doing.
On Sept. 19 and 20, the efforts to “chase” Saathoff came up empty as the young racer took home six first place finishes in six events at the AMA District 17 State Championship.
Racing at the Pekin Motorcycle Club, Saathoff dominated the opening night of races by winning the pro/am, 450cc and open am classes on the club’s short track on Sept. 19.
Sunday’s TT races went just as well for the son of Mike and Bobbi Saathoff. Racing in the same three classes, Saathoff collected three more wins to cap off the near-perfect weekend.
Entering the week Saathoff held a 13 point lead in the AMA District 17 point standings in the 450cc class and a 60 point lead in the open am class. The wins guarantee that Saathoff will finish in first place in both classes, his sixth and seventh District 17 championships since 2015.
