Ruth Ann McDonald, 88, of Fillmore, died on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026, at Hillsboro Rehab and Health Care Center.
The family will host a memorial gathering from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27, at Grace Fellowship Church, located at 303 E. Cedar St., in Fillmore, followed by a service at 4 p.m. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. McDonald was born on June 9, 1938, in Desoto, the daughter of Leslie R. and Freda J. (Smith) Taylor. She married the Reverend Robert McDonald on April 9, 1955, in DeSoto. Married for 64 years, he was the love of her life. The Reverend McDonald preceded her in death on March 16, 2019.
Mrs. McDonald graduated from Chester High School in 1955. She went on to work at Hillsboro Hospital for 27 years. She was a member of Grace Fellowship Church of Fillmore and helped out at their food pantry. She enjoyed reading her Bible, watching Wheel of Fortune and making a good pot of gumbo. She was devoted to church and her husband.
Mrs. McDonald is survived by her daughters, Bonnie (Robert) Nelson of Fillmore, Rhonda Kasten of Bloomington and Patricia (Myron) Kirk of Fillmore; grandchildren, Angela Baker, Rebekah Nelson, Amy Nelson, Luke Kasten, Shonda Ronen, Alisha Kasten, Joshua Cole, Jesse Cole, Josiah Kirk, Jordan Kirk, Curtis Kirk and Silas Kirk; sister-in-law, Charlene Taylor of Panama City Beach, FL; and 24 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jack R. and Richard E. Taylor; daughter, Darla McDonald; and grandson, Michael Nelson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Fellowship Church of Fillmore or Five Loaves Food Pantry in Fillmore.
