Roy L. Starnes, 88

Roy L. Starnes, 88, of Coffeen, died on Friday, March 27, 2020, at 12:12 p.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Burial will be held in Brown Cemetery in Old Ripley. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family.

Mr. Starnes was born Sept. 2, 1931, in Sorento, to Charles and Mae (Mollett) Starnes. He married Lucy Crook, and she survives.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. During his civilian career, he worked in land clearing services in Florida.

Mr. Starnes was a member of the V.F.W. Post #1306. He lived in Sorento, Pine Island, FL, Punto Gorda, FL, and Coffeen throughout his lifetime.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Paula (husband Kenneth) VanHekken of Belding, MI, Kelly Starnes of Coffeen, Dennis (wife Marsha) Starnes of Punta Gorda, FL, and Maureen (husband Ron Richards) Starnes of Shelbyville, IN; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Duane (wife Virginia) Starnes, Betty (husband William) Haberer, both  of Millersburg, and Judy (husband Mack) Fitzgerald of Chattanooga, TN.

Mr. Starnes was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steve Starnes; and three brothers.
