Ron May, 72, of Smithboro, died on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022, at his home, surrounded by family.

The family will receive guests on Monday, Oct. 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Assalley-Young Funeral Home, 118 E. College Avenue in Greenville. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022, with Father Jeffrey Stone officiating, at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, located at 512 S. Prairie Street in Greenville. Interment will be at a later date in Sacred Heart Cemetery, located at 980 Graham Road in Florissant, MO. Assalley-Young Funeral Home in Greenville is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. May was born April 5, 1950, in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Meredith and Laverne (Boyer) May. He married Barbara Ann Kuhlmann in Florissant, MO, on July 23, 1988, they had 34 wonderful years together.

As an outdoor enthusiast, he loved to fish, hunt and do woodworking, and has been a fixture of the local community for 24 years. As a high school student, he worked for Ponticello Pizza, enjoying the camaraderie it provided. After high school, he worked briefly for Florissant Rental, before joining the United States Navy, where he served proudly and was honorably discharged. He then worked for Hussman Refrigeration, for 10 years, in North County and 35 years for the United States postal service, from which he retired. He was a simple, loving man, with a good sense of humor, who never knew a stranger and was sensitive to people’s feelings and worried about everyone, but himself. He truly enjoyed life to the fullest.

He is survived by his loving wife, stepchildren, a brother, a sister, an uncle, a great uncle and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jack May.
