Robert Miles Harris, 56, of Hillsboro, died on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 7, beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Simburger officiating. Burial will follow at Cress Hill Cemetery in Hillsboro.
Mr. Harris was born Feb. 2, 1967, in Hillsboro, to Linda (Salsi) Harris.
He was a 1986 graduate of Hillsboro High School, where he was a member of the tennis team, the 1986 prom king and was always on the honor roll.
Mr. Harris later obtained his real estate license and worked with Dunn’s Real Estate. He was employed at the Montgomery County Assessor’s Office since 2009 and also assisted at Everglo Neon.
He helped Jeff Dunn with photographing thousands of headstones in Montgomery County cemeteries, and also assisted with projects for the Historical Society of Montgomery County.
Mr. Harris enjoyed being with family and friends and spending time outdoors, where he loved fishing, gardening and mushroom hunting. He had a love for astronomy and was an avid tennis player, culinary genius and an inventive bartender. He was always a familiar face on Main Street in Hillsboro and is described as the kindest man ever by all who knew him.
He is survived by his mother; one aunt; and hundreds of friends who loved him dearly.
